 I think I may have attended the very first couple of Merkin Ranch parties way back in the early 70's while we attended UT.  You could always find Randy at the ranch taking all his UT courses from there:  civil ranch engineering, construction, surveying, and wildlife management.  Pretty cool!  He must have been taking them online.
